Losing data on S9 machine

Post by JeffH » Mon Mar 12, 2012 8:02 am

After a little over 300 days of use I'm starting to lose data on my S9 ASV machine. I took a pencil eraser and tried cleaning the contacts on the SD card this morning. Any other ideas?

These cards are so inexpensive now on Amazon, why not play it safe and just buy a new card and copy the data from your existing card before it becomes completely unreliable?

Hi Jeff, What do you mean by "losing data"? One night, all night?...suddenly?

JeffH:

Asking for clarification:

You say you are using a is using a ResMed S8 series ASV. But your signature shows a Resmed S8 machine. Can you clarify which is correct? If you signature is wrong, can you fix it?

Which machine you have is important:

The older S8 machine uses a proprietary card (and card reader). And replacing the card will be difficult and probably a bit expensive.

The newer S9 machine uses a standard 1 or 2 Gig SD card. You can find replacement cards for cheap at places like your local Walmart or Target. You just need to be sure the card is an SD card and not one of the newer SDHC cards.

Robysue...look in Jeff's comments. He has a S9 machine. I don't think that cpap.com carries the one he has so there is no way to link to it so people with this machine just add it to the comments. It probably would be clearer if people would then just omit the machine link and that would force us to look in comments section. Lessen confusion that way.

Losing it randomly. One line of data for one item will only show up for half the night. I almost never gets the whole night in the summary data, but lately has been losing data in the detailed part of the data as well.

First happened when we were on vacation last year. I remember going and buying a card then. I'll have to see if I can find it laying around here.

Thanks

Yes, Jeff says he's using an S9, but his signature shows an S8. That's why I'm confused about what machine he has.

Also he has 300+ days of data. And the S9 VPAP only came out about a year ago at most. And the AVS version was later yet, if I recall correctly.

So Jeff, change your signature if you're using an S9 machine please?

Its an S9 and when I filled it out CPAP.com didn't sell those, as was mentioned by previous poster.

Last month I lost 1 weeks data in a strange way. While reading the data it showed i had no events but all the other data was there. The next day the same, in fact it was the same for a week. Upon looking at the detailed data you could see that there were events but no flags. I removed the power from my S9 and rebooted it the next morning the event flags were back. I now reboot my S9 weekly.
Before this happened my S9 was not unplugged for 7 months.
Best Regards

I think I would reboot, and/or a new card and see if it resolves. If not, RESMED is on facebook. Ask Gil on there.

New card worked all night. I also slept thru the night for the first time in a long time. Who knew that a new SD card would help you sleep better...LOL
