Get Over It

Post by Guest 2 » Thu Mar 09, 2006 4:27 am

There are rules for everything in life. When you get your driving licence - there are rules. When you get a job - there are rules. When you go onto certain websites - there are rules. So what if the ASAA has rules...just follow them and get over it.

Yes, but in a civil society we expect the rules to be applied equally to all.

Funny how the ASAA folks aren't satisfied with the draconian moderation on their own forum, they feel the need to come over here and post "Guest" comments like..."This thread isn't getting anywhere" ...and "Get Over It" to try to quell the conversation on cpaptalk. I guess, if it is your blood... it's in your blood.

This thread is no different than any other on cpaptalk... just folks posting their personal experiences and opinions on a cpap related topic. The nice thing is that here, ALL the experiences/opinions are left intact... not just the ones that agree with those of the moderators.

Sincerely,

Very astute observation, Wader! Thanks for revealing that. It makes absolutely perfect sense. Where else would the ASAA moderators go for enlightenment other than to the best apnea forum on the web.

Just another reason why I love this place! This tidbit of realism also helps me understand what I was dealing with a month ago when a Guest poster persistently tried to discredit my self-help after the medical profession had failed me. I was warned in a PM that my adversary then had a specific agenda, and I've wondered since just what that might have been.

It is a verifiable fact that Truth and Honesty ALWAYS win out in the long run. Just one of those inviolable laws of nature; every bit as inviolable as the laws of physics.

Regards,
Bill

Obviously trying to quiet someone is a sign of complete incompetence and lacking of one's self intellect. Forums are made for people to speak, so why not let them do that? I'd rather worry about whether I've got single-ply or double-ply in my bathroom then argue with a "GUEST".

As for following rules, not a bad concept. But what happens when you follow rules and don't challenge them? Remember things called Fascism and I don't know, maybe Hitler, Stalin, and Mussolini?

And yah, I did just compare a forum to Fascism.... How I love history...

Is someone going to invoke the rule? <smiling>

Post by Moogy » Thu Mar 09, 2006 2:31 pm

There is an old rule, dating I think from the days of dial-up bulletin boards, that when someone on a conversation thread mentions Hitler or Nazis, then the thread is declared legally dead, and everyone has to move to a new thread.... Anyone else old enough to remember that rule?

I think it is like the word association game, where "death" always comes up in the first 50-100 words..... Something about message boards and Hitler--they just go together.

P.S. Now have ***I*** killed this interesting thread, since I am the SECOND person now to mention the H word?

I totally agree, Moogy.

As the party guilty of starting this thread, I hereby declare it legally dead.

Let's all move on to more important things...the point has been made.

LOL! ...you were also the one to first post in German!

I do have to say that I have an aversion to threads being "declared" dead. They seem to do fine dying on their own when the time comes. That is until some SPAM BOT unknowingly revives them.

Actually, I've kind of enjoyed re-reading some of those old posts/threads.

Too bad they're getting resurected this way.

Den,

YUP! it is disappointing to see an old and familiar thread revived only to find out it was by a spammer. Kinda like those tele-marketing voicemails that start out sounding like a call from a long lost budy... then starts the sales pitch.

Nope, not me. Must have been before my time. Of course, it might also have been that I never spent much time on bulletin boards.
