Vitex for women's hormones and insomnia
Vitex for women's hormones and insomnia
Has any woman here taken Vitex? Or does anyone know someone who has? It is supposed to harmonize the hormones throughout the cycle. I had a good few weeks recently of sleeping straight through the night 6-9 hours per night. And I did not have the over-the-top insomnia I usually get premenstrually. I'm wondering if it's the Vitex I started taking. I started on a gluten-free diet around the same time, so I'm trying to discern which was the cause of that miracle. If anyone is disturbed by hormone-induced insomnia—or knows someone who is—what do you (or she) use?

Never heard of it. It has testosterone in it? That would make me nervous.

From what I've read, it increases testosterone levels in men, but FSH in women. Did you find a source that said it had testosterone in it, or that it increases testosterone?SleepingUgly wrote: It has testosterone in it? That would make me nervous.

I googled it and for ingredients it listed testosterone.

What it really is: Chaste tree berry, an herb. It doesn't have testosterone in it.
Not sure where SU got that it had testosterone in it, 'cause it doesn't.
Can't tell you that it'll effect insomnia but it does work on female hormones though.

I don't know where I found it either, because I can't find it again! I can now only find that it boosts testosterone. Hmmm.
