Does this get any better because I seem to be craving sleep so badly and also cannot hear my alarm. Am off sick currently as I had chest pains and couldn't stay awake and been on APAP for 2 weeks now and I sleep sooooo deeply it concerns me for when I go back to work. If I don't hearvmynalarm I'm going to be screwed I do shifts

The hill might be tall and daunting but the path spiralling upwards is gentle and manageable. walk that path slowly and before you know it you'll be looking down from a great height and where you never imagined you would be when you stood at the bottom!

I'm having the too-much sleep problem and I hate it!! And it's only been since I began my cpap use three weeks ago, unless I was either depressed or sick in the past, which I haven't been lately.

Before cpap, I always slept a lot, and I'm still sleeping as much as I used to, when I thought I'd be sleeping less with the machine; so now I'm sleeping even way more than I was! The problem is though, I simply cannot wake up after about 10 hours. I'm so deeply sleepy still that I can't resist keeping the mask on and sleeping a couple more hours - today it was 15 freaking hours of sleep. It's like I'm drugged and I just can't not do it. A variation of this was that last week, after being awake a few hours, I got so sleepy again I had to go sleep some more and slept ANOTHER EIGHT HOURS, so I was then up all night. Very frustrating and depressing.

Oh yes...talked to technician last week and she said I'd gone from about 26 apnea episodes per hour to about 1, so the machine is working for that, it's just this can't-wake-up-thing I don't like. I feel like I don't have a life.

I'll list my equipment here til I get it in my signature line:

Began 3 weeks ago

Machine: Phillips Respironics
REMStar Auto A-Flex System One

Mask: Resmed Airfit F10 - mouth and nose

Are you sure it's not depression or anxiety? Unless there is some underlying physical cause, as long as you are sleeping OK, I doubt apnea is causing you to sleep all day.

I'd give it a couple more weeks and if it does not get better I'd start working on other things such as:
- Make sure there isn't some other physical cause making you sleep so much.
- Determine if it's depression or stress that is making you sleep so much.
- Work on other things that could increase energy of which the single two biggest factors in life are getting up at the same time every day, and exercise.

All much easier said that done I know.

Good luck!
