Re: Tape
That isn't the case and you know it. OP just didn't want another 4 page thread with arguing and bickering about taping and each person just having to have the "last" word about it. No one is advocating ignorance.archangle wrote:Then the pro-ignorance crowd should stop trying to keep people in the dark about the risks of taping.
For some people the risks are minimal and they are okay with it. You make it out like the risks are monumental and perhaps in your eyes they are, but for the rest of us they are minimal and we are entitled to have our opinions just like you are entitled to have yours.
Give it a rest. You have done your self appointed duty by offering your usual doomsday scenario and we don't care that you do it . We just don't want to see another pissing contest between you and whoever happens to disagree with you by hijacking other taping thread by fighting. It gets old real fast to see such bickering going on. Totally takes away from the original intent of this thread which was meant to be a discussion about tape itself and not the safety merits of taping.

Re: Tape
I tried to quit taping for a while and it just didn't work. Now I am back to taping again. The 3M blue No. 2080 is satisfactory. However, I am always looking for something better. Where do you find it? Thanks.

I failed to ask where Kind Removal can be purchased. Also, I don't know for certain, but I doubt that a little contact with tape adhesive on the lips is toxic. If someone is nervous about that, Johnson & Johnson CLOTH surgical tape is sterile, removes easy and does not leave any residue; it's just a little expensive if you use a few strips each night. Most paper tapes leave adhesive around the mouth. At least, that's been my experience.

Just put some chap stick on those lips before you tape up and you'll be OK.

When I used my home-made 'chin-ups', I could get my mouth open enough in the middle to sneeze.

Re: Tape
You can avoid raw lips by rolling them in, between your teeth, before applying the tape. Think "toothless granny face"...

Re: Tape
I do use Chap Stick and roll my lips inward. My concern when taping up is not lip rash, tape toxicity, residual adhesive, or aspiration pneumonia. Nor is it asphyxiation by breathing exhaled CO2, prescription drug difficulties, bacteria, strokes, heart attacks, slippery porcelain receptacles or bath mats. My greatest fear is an accelerated nose tickle; you know, that type of a tickle that you can't put your finger on quick because of those pillows in your nose; a tickle severe enough to cause me to sneeze before I am able to remove the tape. The internal pressure builds so great so fast that I might wind up messing my britches. However, if it did happen, I don't think I could smell it, since I use a cpap machine wlth those things in my nose holes.
