What is the range that the new Autoset is set at?

When in doubt...I usually opt for the middle of the road setting but you can do a test pressure with each one to see what feels the best for you.

My machine is set at 4.5 - 20 range. I understand most of the settings except the EPR and don't know what to set it at?
If I don't hear in time, I will set it at 3 and see what happens...

I was afraid they would set the machine wide open. 4 to 20...when you were needing in the neighborhood of 12 or 13 to make a dent in things.

That 4 cm is going to be too low starting out and it is likely going to take too long for the machine to respond effectively to the obstructive events. A minimum of 10 would probably give the machine a better head start. Anyway, see what tonight brings. EPR of 3...won't even be felt at all when starting out the night because the machine is starting out at 4 cm which is as low as it possibly can start out. It can't go any lower no matter what the EPR setting.

APAP machines don't start out low and immediately go up to the higher pressures that might be needed.
They go up in stages and when they are set too low then the events come and go before the machine can get up to the pressure that is needed to deal with the events effectively. Once it gets up to where it needs to be....that works great but then just as soon as nothing is going on to keep the machine at the upper pressures the machine will drop down to the minimum and then the next round of events come and the machine has to begin the climb again.

Your AHI with 4 to 20 settings will likely be worse than what you were getting at 12 cm cpap.

I am extremely thankful for this forum...Doctors..!! when I asked him how to set up my machine, he just said that it would set automatically to what I needed
So much for "expert" advice!

If your pressure needs were 8 or 9 cm...then setting the machine to min of 4 would work fine.

I used an APAP.. 10 cm minimum and 20 max...when I dropped down to just 8 cm minimum my AHI was in double digits. I hate to think what it would be with 4 minimum.

Maximum is not all that critical because the machine won't go where it doesn't think it needs to go but the minimum needs to be enough to give the machine a good head start.

Go ahead and use EPR 3. You might like it. It is easily changed later depending on how you feel and what we might see on the reports. It is a comfort feature might as well be as comfortable as possible.

BTW...get a handle on posting of those report images.. We are going to need to see them......
That is the only way to get an idea what is going on during the night.
You can use sleepyHead. We will want the daily detailed report that shows pressure line graph and the event graph.

Hi, I love this forum and am so grateful for all your help. I am going to work in a minute so have no time to learn how to put the graphs up. I dont have a vista tool, I have windowns xp but am unable to do what you said. Can you make it real simple for me as I am a bit computer challenged. my AHI was 10.28 so need to get it lower...

Hi, I am sorry, but I have spent two hours trying to post my charts and I have got it into a document and photobucket but am unable to post it on here. I can scan it and send it as an attachment to a private email but that is the limit of my patience! I give up!
