I'm still using the Quattro most of the time right now. I think I might try it first http://www.cpaplibrary.com

Should I assume I'd use the same size I had for the Quattro?
Nope, but check this out for sizing information: https://www.cpap.com/productpage/resmed ... dgear.html Click on the tab "Important Tips".

I went from the standard Quattro FFM to FX and there was a world of difference for me. The FX stopped leaks and soreness on the nose bridge. It even got much better when I went to the Pad a Cheek liner. My only complaint is the top strap has left a dent in my hair that doesn't seem to come out even after washing. In 3 months I am going to get the regular Quattro FFM only because the straps go around the side of my head and not accross the top. I will get a Pad a Cheek liner for the new mask.

Thanks for the tip, b360155.
I found this youtube video that suggests the quattro fx comes with its own sizing guide. I'm guessing the guide comes with the mask from cpap.com, but it seems kind of weird to get the tool after you get the mask. My guess is that the tool stays with the DME. When I measure the distance, I get 3.75", which is just slightly closer to the Small (3.563") than it is to the Medium (4"). In this case, it would indicate small, which was indicated for the Quattro as well. I think it might be worth asking the folks at cpap.com before I buy.

I'm using the Quattro FX and I like it best of all so far.

I had the Quattro and was using a Medium and went to a small and it was better.

Same thing with the Quattro FX.

The sizing guide says Medium but Smalls work better for me.

There's more to it than just the distance between a spot on your nose and the dip in your chip where the measuring guide's fit.

The contours of your face, facial hair, size of nose and mouth and relative placement.

The sizing guide is too simple. But it's a starting point.

I am a newbie, so the FX FFM is the only thing I have used but I like it. Did just order the padacheek for the straps because the lower straps and snaps leave lines on my face for hours (I am a stomach sleeper)

Thanks Arizona-Willie,
I'm pretty much medium in every facial dimension for most other masks, but even the quattro small seems almost too big. I can make it work fairly successfully though. I'm guessing the same may be true of the quattro fx for me.

Some with me with the Quattro. I guess some things don't change.

This helped me with the permanent strap marks in the hair.

For those of you that love your FX - if anyone is interested in buying an almost unused FX in small (worn for maybe 30 minutes) or a slightly longer used large (used about 4 nights). Drop me a PM. The small has the medium head gear and a padacheek liner and the large has large headgear.

I like my Mirage Quattro but I gotta ask this. I use the padacheek head gear pads but with or without the pads I get tension headaches from the bottom strap that runs along the base of the neck if I use it more then a week or 2. Has anyone else had this and would the new FX be better? It looks like in the pics I have seen that it hits the same spot but without the bridge I was thinking that maybe the pressure points of the straps might be different.

Randyp
Thanks for the tip on the sleep caps--I have been wondering if there was such a thing. One question--isn't it awfully hot in the summer time?

If you buy a complete mask, above is a picture of the way it is packaged. It comes in two sections, the fitting tool is in a sealed portion at the top of the bag, then there is a perforation so you can tear that part off separate from the mask which is in the 2nd sealed portion below the perforation. The first time I got the mask, I did get it during an office visit to my DME so they did have the fitting tool which they used (and kept) to determine the proper size mask for me. After 3 months, my insurance covered a new mask, so I ordered another Quattro FX, so this is the way it arrived. It is a little bit bassackwards to order a mask first before receiving the fitting tool, but maybe since the bag comes in separate sections, you could return the sealed mask if the fitting tool showed you ordered the wrong size. Really, just taking a measuring tape and using the scale in inches works just as well and there is no need to keep the tool once you've used it. I'm sure CPAP.com can give you advice which way to go if you're between the measurements of small versus medium.

DreamDiver - did you get the reply to the PM you sent me? It says it was sent but it's also still in my outbox. Maybe that's normal but I'm concerned it didn't send.

I have used both masks and they were the large size. Keep this link for when you get the new mask: http://www.resmed.com/us/products/quatt ... clinicians It has information on properly fitting the mask.
