Due for a sleep study. S8 vs. S9?

Probably see him in the next couple of weeks. My pressure was initially set at 10 many, many years ago but I increased it to 11 on my own right away. Do the "auto" machines set the pressure on their own according to one's needs? I'm in the dark ages here.
