Rainout/SNAPP/Aussie hose

Post by Artiem » Tue Feb 28, 2006 6:29 pm

Three months in and I've got to say it has NOT been easy going. Still having a lot of trouble, seems like I wake up more with the mask than I ever did without it! Still, I feel like it's important to keep trying. So here I am (after an absence of a couple months) turning to my fellow hoseheads for some thoughts.

In the last 10-12 days, I've begun having a rainout problem. What's weird is the room temperature doesn't seem to have anything to do with it, nor the weather outside. Is there any other factor I should be considering?

I do like the SNAPP better than a mask, but it is more prone to rainout than other models? I've found several thoughts on rainout and on the SNAPP but nothing which combines those two topics .

Finally, how's that Aussie hose working for people? (I know, I should just search the topic but I've already been here for like an hour and a half reading posts and my eyes are getting blurry).

I'll rant about the lack of a card reader on my GoodKnight 420G some other time. Peace y'all!

The Aussie hose is excellent especially if your room is cold.

Most people make the mistake of turning their humidifier up too high to compensate for the cold ambient room air, the result is rainout, really has nothing to do with the type of mask.

Just like a glass of ice tea sweating on the outside, similar thing happens when you turn your humidifier up too high, it doesn't warm the incoming air all that much it simply adds more moisture into the delivery air.

My suggestion:
Bite the bullet and order a Aussie hose, you won't regret it and then turn your humidifier down so it stops the rainout. I only need to use the aussie hose for 2-3 months during winter and its still worth it.

Yes, the relative humidity in your room.
