gulping sound

Post by weintel » Fri Jan 27, 2012 2:18 pm

My cpap a res med makes the gulping or gurgling sound about 2-4 hours into my sleep. It seems to get water in the hose or mask. The water is never over the fill line, but getting up and dumping the water fromt he hose at 2am is not fun??Any suggestions?

This is rain out. The humidity in the air is getting deposited in the hose on the way to you. You can try turning the humidifier down a little. A hose cover will also help.

The next time this happens, disconnect the hose and see if you can pour any water out of it.

Try placing the CPAP on the floor so it is lower that your bed. In that way the water will run back to the humidifier.

--or get a heated hose, use a hose cozy, or warm up the bedroom.
It's only condensation; but it is a nuisance.

You can try a cozy around the hose, you can make one or find them with online DMEs. Another strategy is to put the cpap significantly lower then your head so the water runs back into the reservoir.
