ResMed Mirage FX- headgear comes undone

Post by letchworth » Sat Jan 21, 2012 6:21 pm

I recently changed insurance and thus DMEs-- RT suggested a ResMed Mirage FX, and I generally like it except that the headgear comes undone, all by itself.

I hang my mask on a bedside lamp when I get up in the morning and each night when I pick it up from its hook on the lamp, the top right portion of the headgear pops out of its little plastic split d-ring [for lack of a better term]
see: https://www.cpap.com/productpage/Resmed ... dgear.html

Is this common for this particular mask? Like I said, I like almost everything about the mask- small, lightweight, seems to seal well-- but this is frustrating. Funny thing is that, although that ring is split, it doesn't look like the gap is wide enough to cause this.
Your experiences might help me in getting used to this- because otherwise I like the mask pretty well. I had been using the Respironics Comfort Gel, this seems "less clunky" and the air discharge seems less intrusive on my wife than the "new Blue".

Is the ring split, or broken?
Edit: Now that I've taken a good look at the images,
I realize the rings are split in lieu of using a nice clip like the older masks--probably cheaper.
Way to go, ResMed!
If it stays on in use--nothing to worry about.

Perhaps mine is a frustration of "the way things should be"---- or as you have indicated "the way things used to be".

The bottom connection slips on and off as it should and I guess that is the most important-- but putting it on in the dark is a little clumsy [though I usually put it on in the bathroom and the quick connect of the hose to the mask is "slick".

I guess I was wondering if other users of this particular mask [or the "for her" version] have experienced the same problem and how they cope.

Thanks for taking time to reply- I do appreciate it

Sometimes one of my top straps comes out of the hook during the night, but I've noticed that this doesn't seem to affect therapy (I don't seem to get any leaking as a result, and the mask seems to stay seated in place all the same).

I generally just re-attach it if I notice it.
