Hypoallergenic filter - Resmed S9 Autoset

Post by renne » Sun Jan 08, 2012 6:23 pm

I recently posted about my stuffy nose and wanting to try a hypoallergenic filter on my Resmed S9 Autoset. I have a dim recollection of my DME mentioning that the hypo filters reduce air flow. Could this be true?

I believe that is correct, but I don't know if the amount of the reduction is significant.

Personally I can't tell a difference in air flow. I know they get dirty faster so they do something good in my opinion, I suppose if you leave a dirty filter in the machine of either type it would effect air flow. Send me an PM if your open to sending me $2 via paypal and I will drop one in the mail for you to try out and you can decide for yourself.

My opinion is that DME's frequently use non-resmed filters that you may receive in a baggie or similar rather than a factory sealed Resmed package. They may have a large quantity of generic regular filters and may find it inconvient to have clients wanting something different.
