I have been using my cpap for one week now and things are going OK I guess. I didn't think I would need the chinstrap, but the wife said she thought a train was coming thru the bedroom. So I tried the chinstrap and can't keep it on, it is just a band of material with velcro at each end. Does anyone have recommendations on a replacement?
Chinstrap
I'm experimenting as well. Experimenting costs money but I guess it is well spent. I have been having some luck with the Respironics Premimum chinstrap for about 2 weeks now (can't say I like it but it seems to work)

but I heard somewhere, from someone perhaps on this forum, that it wears out quickly. I have ordered a "Sleep Angel" from off of E-Bay because some folks on another list have said it has worked for them.
I do find them the Respironics a little warm and confining and, being heavy, the chin cup slips up or down, depending but it has helped me keep my mouth closed.
I keep learning the truism that looser is better than tighter is really valid. I have had both the interface (Swift) and chinstrap too tight at first and it just doesn't work well for leaks, comfort and tolerance. Find "just tight enough but not too tight" seems to be the ephemeral goal. The simple strap given me by my DME hurt my chin but I was able to keep it on my head but it was likely too tight.

I also wanted to say that a chinstrap seems to be absolutely necessary for me. It seems that I can keep my mouth closed until about 3 or 4am but then it just flops open and nothing I do seems to correct it. I had "magic" results and then started feeling crummy which led me to suspect my mouth was coming open. It got much better after the chinstrap, as much as I dislike it.
I do not get mouth leaks like Rested Gal reports, at least not yet, but I have some tape socked away just in case.
