Maybe you can get a short term rental/trial without even involving the insurance company or turning in the ventilator. That way, if you can't stand the ASV, you can swap back to the ventilator. I will ask with my current DME. A different DME could pose a problem. I called every other DME in the area a few months ago. Only ONE would take me using the ventilator, but said they wouldn't keep me if I have to go invasive. My current DME will keep me as an invasive vent patient. I have a call into my RT Supervisor to run this by him. One thing that struck me when I was communicating with my doctor is that she thought I HAD already tried an ASV before the ventilator. I went cpap, bipap then straight to the Trilogy -- pretty big leap with equipment. This DME has sent 3 different RTs to see me since this summer. I am hoping that one of them may have a "feeling" whether I could use an ASV instead of the vent.
As I've mentioned, one of my desires is to be able to get data that shows more sleep data rather than just respiratory data.
