hose filling with water

Post by rbrushaber » Thu Dec 29, 2011 8:33 am

Hello, I am new to a CPAP and have only had it two nights now, but have a quesiton...the mosture filled the loop in the hose to the point where it would not let me breath so I had to dump it...I turned down the heater and it seemed to slow the rate that it filled the hose but is that kind of mosture build up normal? Am I doing something wrong? should I maybe not have the hose dangling over the side of the bed lower then the machine and my mask? Thanks

Yes, you figured that out nicely. Here are some other things that help:

- turn the humidifier down to the point where your nose gets dry then turn it up one notch
- place the machine lower than the level of your head
- get a fleece cover for the hose - will reduce condensation in the hose (another benefit is reducing noise from the blower)
