Are you having an allergic reaction or acne?

If it's an allergic reaction, using strap covers could help (for example, padacheek.com).

If it's acne, strap covers could also be helpful, but I'm not sure. I haven't noticed any problems with acne from most of the straps. A few more blackheads on my chin from my chinstrap, but no big deal. I did have a massive breakout from the 2 nights that I used a nasal mask instead of nasal pillows. There are also mask liners that can help if you are breaking out from the mask itself.

You have been on CPAP for 5 years. Why do you think this happened now? Evidently it didn't bother you for the past 5 years.

Did you change how you clean your straps? Laundry soap change maybe? I use a handkerchief over my chin strap.

I'm leaning towards strap covers, the breakouts have been going on and off the last year, but the trouble with any cpap equipment is what part of China your present equipment is made, might be good from one supplier, then cost cutting comes in and then a new mfg comes into the picture, in any case will keep at what I'm allergic to, food, soap, etc. and then if all fails I will see a dermatologist. I do feel its the cpap equipment, because the areas affected are where the straps make contact.

If pada doesn't have enough stuff on her website to cover what you need covered... call her and ask her.
