Asthma/COPD meds

Post by sickwithapnea17 » Sat Dec 24, 2011 11:32 pm

I started taking spiriva and my peak flow meter readings have never been higher- still have some head tightness when I exhale and wheezing
a poster spoke of eye pressure increases/problems after a couple months on spiriva
I also take dulera and singulair but am wondering if I am getting wheezing from them
there is another drug in the singulair class, accolate and am thinking of switching to this
I've heard Symbicort is one of the best inhalers for long-term safety
anyway I'm sick again with another infection after a month sick

despite the eye pressure side effects, spiriva seems to be an amazing drug! I've never had such high peak flow readings, but I am still wheezing
I'm interested in getting a PFT now to see my FEV1. My FEV1 has been stuck at 73 for years now...

I have COPD and take spiriva and singulair. I have had no bad effects from either. My wheezing is more related to my COPD than the drugs. It might be smart to ask your doc though. Everyone reacts differently to medication.

I'm not sure if the wheezing was from this bad infection or dulera...
the great thing about spiriva is that it is a long term action drug, it doesn't wear off quickly like rescue inhalers
I've also been trying herbal stuff like licorice root, boswellier extract but they don't seem to help right now since I'm still wheezing and having sleep apnea problems even after prednisone

has anyone tried amrita bindu?

I'm on Advair (500/50) & Spiriva and couldn't live without them, literally!
Luckily, I haven't had any side effects.

Over the years, I've gone through virtually ALL the available drugs and this combo is the only one that works for me.

Prednisone frequently causes problems sleeping. These problems can be lessened by taking it only in the (early) morning, if at all possible.

I have some friends who take 500 advair and have controlled their asthma with that.
I don't know why this wheezing and head tightness/sleepiness isn't cured on the meds. Someone suggesting completely cutting out any breads and wheat from your diet. I also read that low stomach acid is associated with asthma
Maybe nitrates can help
