New to CPAP

Post by Winger » Tue Feb 21, 2006 12:02 pm

I live in the UK and I am very new to CPAP. I have tried it for three nights but I am finding that I am waking feeling rather afraid when wearing the mask and have to pull it off rather quickly during the night. I feel strangely that I cannot breath. Is this normal to new comers and is it something I will get use to. I would appreciate some feedback.

I no longer live in the UK and wish I could get to the point of being asleep to worry about pulling it off. It's only been 4 days for me and from what I've read it's not unusual to have problems, although everyone is different. My next trick is to wear it whenever i'm at home sitting at my computer or watching TV to get used to it. It's something you may want to try too if you're comfortable with it while awake it should reassure you for sleep.

I've found that sharing your worries help and there are a wonderful Flurry of Hoseheads on this forum willing to help.
