stomach gas

Post by jggppp » Tue Feb 21, 2006 11:57 am

Does anyone have any advice for a relatively new CPAP user who, more often than not, wakes up with a lot of stomach gas after using the CPAP?

My doctor prescribed a lower CPAP pressure. That reduced the amount of gas slightly, but it also reduced the quality of my sleep significantly.

Changing position doesn't seem to help either.

The problem is especially bad if my chin strap slides off, but even with it on all night, I still end up farting all morning long!

Thanks.

The guest gave you bad advice.
Gas x is worthless as is mylanta and other antigas preparations.
The reason is that it is not gas- the metabolic type we are all familiar with.

It is AIR!!

Gas x and the others are defrothicants that work on metabolic gas to break up the little bubbles with surface tension to make one big bolus that take one of 2 directions out.

Look up aerophagia- it has been covered about a million times and is usually self limiting.
