Poor User Experience

Post by UnhappyCPAPdotcomUser » Fri Dec 23, 2011 2:01 pm

Be advised - there is no way to choose the correct size of a chin strap on cpap-dotcom - and once you get it you own it - no returns once opened. I ordered one with a choice of 2 sizes: standard and extra large. Given only 2 choices, and no way provided to know what size one should choose, I ordered standard assuming the XL was for XL craniums, which I do not have. WRONG. Though adjustable, the "Standard" seemed fit for small people and children, and now opened, I am stuck with the wrong size having wasted the money with no option for exchange. Will I buy the next size up? NO WAY. No way to know if that will fit either. Will I buy from cpap-dotcom again? NO WAY. I called, spoke to a supposed manager, and all I got was a repeat of the purchase policy and a cursory "I'll look into it" regarding how customers might choose correctly via online information (as if they would actually try to make changes to affect the online user experience). I could tell they were simply waiting for me to hang up so they could forget about me. So buyer beware. I should have read the policy mouse type closer - my fault. But be absolutely sure you want what you buy, because being medical supplies with no return possibility, once you click submit, you own it no matter what.

Well, if you were smart you could offer the one you do not need for sale here on the forum. Just state the price, if you its coming from a smoking or none smoking home or a home with pets.

Be advised they have online chat to help you choose the right size. Be advised they have a return policy which you evidently did not read. The fault lies with you.

Did you just join the forum (no user profile) to badmouth a great company? You are a piece of work.

I too bought a strap that was too small (on Amazon). I kept it with the rest of my 'growing' O2 & cpap stuff (I am a pack-rat).

I had trouble getting my nose-face mask to stay sealed at night (use three different type).

One night (when the 'leak alert' woke me up) I had the idea to use the strap to hold the mask in place. The "split-wide opening for the chin" goes over the mask (the split allows the hose connection to pass through, thus stays in place very well) and the velcro straps under my ears and around the back of my head.

Now one of best 'sealers'.

I imagine it's similar to buying underwear - no returns on those (unless there are in the U.S., which I'd be surprised to hear). A strap is personal and I don't imagine someone else would want one that had been cleaned before or after being returned as it probably would not look or feel 100% new.

When my husband was having a leaking problem a forum member sent me a PM offering me a Standard chin strap that was too small for him to try on my husband, he wouldn't accept any money for it, not even postage. We agreed that if it did not fit my hubby I would pass it on to someone else in need, which I gladly did. It's not a very expensive item and it sure feels good to share with others on this journey. Maybe if you were a registered member here and someone was in need, you could do the same, especially this time of year. BTW, most of us purchase our supplies from our host and know the rules.

My DME let me try 3 chinstraps--and I returned all of them.
They were so tight they made me SICK.
The only one that worked was the cheapie Sullivan they gave me free--but only after I modified it.
