New CPAP User - Mask Type?

Hi everyone, I am a new CPAP user, just started at home last night. I did pretty well, but I've been wondering about whether I should try a different type of mask. I am currently using a nasal mask, but I've read some good things on here about nasal pillows for side/stomach sleepers like me. I had a few times last night where my pillow pushed my mask slightly and I had to reposition so I would keep a good fit. Would you suggest trying a nasal pillows mask instead?

If you aren't happy with your nasal mask, definitely try the nasal pillows. I had to use a nasal mask for a few nights because I had a sore on my nose. I think I lasted exactly 2 nights and 15 minutes before ripping it off and going back to my pillows! I'm a very active sleeper, and I love the Opus 360 because the hose attaches to the top of my head and moves with me. The swift FX is probably the most popular one, though.

Thanks, do you happen to know if the Swift FX also attaches the hose to your head? I travel a lot so I probably won't be able to always have my hose set up in a convenient position, so anything to keep from getting tangled up with it would be nice!

The mask I currently use, the SWift LT (for her) comes with an attachment you can add to keep the hose attached to the top of your head. I really like it.

One other bit of advice: Don't wear your mask too tight. As a newbie, I am guilty of this. I hated my mask and demanded a new one. When my respiratory therapist saw me put it on, she adjusted it to be a lot more loose (so loose it feels TOO loose). It is now super comfy, and I have no issues with leaks. So if you have it on and it feels tight, it is probably TOO tight!

Thanks Dazzles, they actually put it on really tight during my sleep study, but then they adjusted it for me when I got my machine and I was able to see it works well while looser (thankfully I got a S9 Elite too, which provides that feedback as well!). Do you notice any issues with it being uncomfortable having something practically in your nose?

The Swift FX doesn't have the little clip to route the hose over the head that the Swift Lt does but it would be real easy to make a little velcro strap to hold the hose up onto that top strap. The hose will swivel 360 degrees easily.

Many people like to use this little portable hose management system to keep the hose routed overhead.

The Swift LT was my mask of choice till the Swift FX was released. I like the least amount of stuff on my face as I can get by with. The Swift FX fits me perfect.
