Newby to site&6 month's on machine.
Just wanted to say hello. It has took alot to get adjusted to the new machine. My first head gear was full faced.Never got use to it alway's leaking.Well my insurance will replace every 6 month's so my CPAP provider had me try a nasal mask this time.I have alway's slept with my mouth open .But,he said that he has seen that if you get enough air down your nose you will sleep with your mouth closed.Well,we are on day 4.I can say I'm getting alot more hour's on it&able to sleep alot better.Only thing that I have to ? is last night I am getting a little cold&my nose is stopped up&had a little time getting to sleep last night.I have noticed that during the night my nose does open up more because of the air. What do you do in this sitiution?

Do think increasing the humidity might help?

Yes,that to funny.Like I said I'm new at this.Just told my wife I should turn it up.Has been at 80.I thought I would turn it up a little more.
Re: Newby to site&6 month's on machine.
I've been using mine at 84 degrees lately.
There is not much to do if you are too congested to breathe well with the nasal mask. When I had a cold I had to go back on my full face mask for a few days. If it's just run of the mill congestion that comes on all of a sudden you can use something like Afrin nasal spray, which will open the nasal passages up, but it's not a product you want to use everyday, only occasionally. There are prescription nasal sprays that are safe for daily use: Nasonex, Flonase, etc. but the downside is that you must use them everyday for them to be effective.
I also do daily saline rinses/irrigation, which helps with congestion (NeilMed is a common brand of product, though you can use any netipot or spray bottle with a solution of 1/4 teaspoon non-iodized salt + 1/4 teaspoon baking soda to 8 oz distilled or boiled water that has cooled to comfortable temperature). I prefer distilled since I know there is nothing in it that I don't want up my nose.

Also,I noticed that the setting for full face was still on the machine. What is the difference in those setting.More air or what?

Welcome Kenneth, I think you may have the wrong machine listed, the S8 is an old model. Do you have an S9 Autoset, the same one as Randy with Climate Control?

Kenneth - I replied in other thread (no pressure difference, just reported leak may vary if mask setting is wrong).Kenneth P. wrote:Also,I noticed that the setting for full face was still on the machine. What is the difference in those setting.More air or what?

Re: Newby to site&6 month's on machine.
Welcome,
I change to a full face (FF) mask for the rare cold or allergies. Like a previous poster does, I too use saline rinse being the Neti Pot and am careful to use distilled slightly warm water and don't do it if I cannot breath through my nose at all. On a very rare occasion I will use a nasal spray that for me makes my nose feel like a wild fire went through it during the night - but it has helped a couple of times in 4 years.

Work'd last night.Turn'd it up to 83 & got 5 hour's out of it first no stopped up nose. Then went back to sleep for another 2 hour's on it.The nasal mask has made a world of difference.
