If you could have your druthers

I am thinking of getting a new set up to be better informed about my sleep apnea progress.

I am thinking either a PR System One REMstar BiPap Auto with A-flex, OR, a Resmed S9 Auto set.

No insurance involved so $$ amount not a consideration. Trying to determine which is the better machine overall ????

Which one has the better software that would be easy for a old fart to understand?

They aren't comparable... One is a bilevel and the other isn't.

Your right, think I meant Remstar Sys 1 with AFlex. I saw some where in some one's post that these were two very good machines, both with full software capabilities.

SleepyHead software is now compatible with both PR S1 machines and ResMed S9 machines. So that levels that playing field.

While I have not been able to use a ResMed S9 AutoSet, I used to use the PR S1 APAP and changed to PR S1 BiPap on a whim...that story here...viewtopic/t71442/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=71 ... te#p656179
and recently have had the opportunity to try the ResMed S9 VPAP auto also mentioned in my experiment thread.

Both BiLevels are really sweet and each has its pros and cons. I have pretty much decided I would be happy and well treated with either machine.

Why were you thinking BiPap? Any particular reason?
In APAP machines the ResMed S9 Autoset or the PR S1 Auto Cpap with AFlex are both good choices.
In BiPap auto machines the choices are ResMed S9 VPAP Auto or the PR S1 BiPap Auto (this one I own)

I will say this...having had a chance to use a ResMed machine and a couple of Respironics machines.
I like them both, pretty much equally.
ResMed is probably a tad more quiet..just a wee bit based on what my husband says when compared to the PR S1 BiPap. The PR S1 BiPap is just a bit noisier than the PR S1 APAP. Understandable due to blower changes with EPAP and IPAP. None of the machines I have tried have been loud enough for it to be an issue. We are talking very minor noise level differences. For me..I only hear my breathing with any of them.

Exhale relief on ResMed S9 Autoset and PR S1APAP machines are entirely different.
ResMed has the heated hose thing..pretty awesome if you have rain out issues or cold nose issues.
PR S1 has a long hose attachment swivel on top of the humidifier which is sweeter than ResMed rear placement but not a deal breaker issue.

So both are great machines..They use entirely different algorithms though and some people might like one over the other. For me, from what I have seen...I would do well with either.

The latest Resmed has been out a bit longer than the latest Respironics.
I don't know if 'bug' shakedown is an issue, though.

What do you hope to see that your IntelliPap isn't showing you?

I love my Intellipap, BUT. the Smart Link has been erratic to say the least. At first, I was getting data for a week or so at a time, each day had full data. Lately, I leave downloading it for a week and I get only one day download of data. Each time I want to download data to my SD card. when I initiate it, I have to jiggle and try to move the smart link around enough for it to make contact with the machine, and ever time I have to juggle it, I lose all data but the first day. It's a tossup even if I download each day if there will be any thing to download !!! DeVilbiss doesn't have a clue wither it's the smart Link or the machine connection to the Smart Link that's malfunctioning. At any rate, I like to track and record my day to day data and I'm not able to any more with the Intellipap. My first RemStar Auto with C-flex recorded data for several years with out ever screwing up. The Devilbiss has only worked good at recording data for about 6 months, then it started to have problems. Not sure there's any easy answer except to get a new machine..
