Server Back Pain

Lately I have started having server back pain during the night while only using my CPAP machine. A friend suggested it might be due to swallowing air from my machine during the night. I do have a lot of burping in the mornings and after about 20 to 30 minutes once up it goes away. The pain and disconfort can really be intense at times.

Anyone experienced this before?

I am going to make the assumption that this is a legit post.

"Severe" is the word that you are looking for. Not server...

What you are describing is called aerophagia...swallowing air.

Use the search mode and you will find much information. Can be related to alcohol, spicy foods, poor cpap therapy causing arousals...and on and on.

So do the search and do the reading. It is a problem with some cpap users and there are things you can do to improve the situation. Cure is much harder.

Luckily I have never had the problem so this is as far as my advice can go.

It can also be from breathing out against the pressure (muscles sore like from a workout)

It can be also because for the first time in years you are sleeping without moving. In this case get a new pillow and a mattress topper or even a new mattress which give your body better support.

I second the new mattress or topper.
You had probably been sleeping so poorly, you never laid still long enough to realize you need a better bed.

I'm glad you all clarified that "server" was supposed to be "severe." I speak 3 languages and have studied linguistics. I had back pain when I first started treatment too. Though I have herniated discs and other problems, in my back it only started to happen after treatment. What I think may have been happening, was that for the first 3 weeks or so I would go to sleep in one position and wake up in that same position. I wonder if it is possible not to toss and turn while you sleep, as that is what seemed like was going on with me.
Also a poor mattress can further back pain.
I just put my mattress topper on my bed 2 days ago, and it seems that when ever I do this my AHI goes ski high for one night, and then returns to normal. I don't understand it, but it just does for some reason this has happened several times.
