Need software guru help with ResScan

Post by JeffL » Wed Dec 14, 2011 11:56 am

I have a doctor appointment tomorrow, and I wanted to print out my report.

Have you installed or uninstalled anything since the last time you used the program?

Have you tried the old reboot trick to see if that solves the issue?

Make sure your sd card isn't locked and wipe the contact and try again.
If that doesn't work, maybe try uninstall and reinstall of ResScan? Save your data files already downloaded to your computer.

ResScan should not care if the card is locked. I would uninstall and reinstall. What version are you using? Did you upgrade to 3.16?

When you power up press the F8 key and select to boot up in safe mode.
The display will very low resultion but see if you can start ResScan without the error.
If so then generate your report and save the .pdf
Reboot your computer as normal and open and print the .pdf report.

Thanks for all your replies.
I Googled the problem, and actually found a solution that was posted on this forum back in July.

viewtopic/t63225/ResScan-Has-Caused-an- ... Error.html

I followed the instructions to exclude ResScan from Data Execution Prevention.
After changing the settings, I had to reboot, so I can't say for sure if just rebooting would have made it work again or not. I guess time will tell.
Anyway, I generated all the reports that I wanted.

I guess that wasn't the fix. It just happened again.
I might try installing 3.16 tomorrow. Maybe that will help.

Update - Maybe it's a memory issue. I closed everything except my e-mail app, tried again, and it didn't crash.

How's your hard drive space situation? If the drive your Windows program is on starts running low, especially if you have a large paging file, you can see all sorts of funny errors. Do a defrag and disk cleanup on it, and delete all the temp files from your browser. CCleaner is a good little program to clean the junk off your drive. It's free and has no malware, adware, or nagware in it.

60.3gb used space, 172gb free space. No problem there.

Make sure to completely uninstall the old program prior to installing the new program. It won't hurt the data. But it wouldn't hurt to have your data files backed up.
