Flex and the apnea switch: one long night

Post by tetragon » Tue Dec 13, 2011 10:45 pm

Yesterday afternoon, a headache started. Like most of the ones that I get, a brisk walk in the cold, dark outside helped. But I can't spend the entire night walking. Instead, it was time for an early bedtime and careful positioning, as most of the times I have one, it goes away if I get my head and face smushed into a pillow just right. That position is achievable with the mask on, and isn't too loud.

So now I'm laying in bed, head smushed into the pillow, watching the black speckles flying around a field of black, waiting for the bed to stop whirling, when I realize that my breathing feels wrong. Actually, it isn't my breathing that's wrong. It's Flex firing up for the exhale before I'm ready. What a strange feeling it is. Still, too much of a hassle to do anything about at this point as that would mean standing and electronics and their cruel, bright screens.

I eventually get to sleep (and wake up again (and get to sleep again (and …))), and get out of bed for the day with a different headache. Yay! I traded one for another. I put my card into my computer, and what does it say? Someone flipped the Apnea Switch half-way through the night. Bah.

I guess this was a joke. I didn't get that at first because it's not funny.
