But, how do I know these rant glorified 5 dollar football mouth pieces.
What is the difference between these and what high schoolers use in football?
What's different besides the price? Custom made which we would assume would mean a better fit and more comfortable.
I don't know of anyone here that is a long standing member who uses one. Most of us are tightwads..that price would scare off a lot of people.
Did you notice that they offer a "trainer" for $30 plus S/H that doesn't require the impression so the price is 1/10th the price of the HBM that requires the impression.
That might be interesting to try if this sort of thing appeals to you.

Have you tried the cheap football type of guards at all? I never have but we have people here who use them
and there was something a while back that people were talking about that was maybe a little better than those Walmart sports guards but I forget what it was called. Not horribly expensive if it wasn't for shipping....Around $12 total I think it was but can't swear to it. Maybe someone remembers it in more detail???

I have seen these at Walmart...cost a little more and I know one person who uses it because he lives overseas and can't get it so I bought a couple for him and sent them to him.

He used it to help keep his mouth closed and not for preventing grinding. I guess it worked or he wouldn't had me buy up Walmart...they only had 2 anyway.

The only mouth guard I have ever used was the one that comes with the Tap Pap nasal pillow cpap mask...see link in my profile.
I bought it for 2 reasons...one I liked the idea of no headgear at all and 2 being I had been doing a bit of clenching my jaws and was having some TMJ pain.
I can't say that having a mouth guard stopped any mouth breathing I have been known to do. If my jaw wants to flop down and open my mouth (usually when I am on my back) I don't see how having a mouth guard would stop it but I admit that it doesn't happen often so I really haven't tried to find any answers or go looking any further.
Might be different if I did. I have no physical need to mouth breathe...nose is fine.
