Whew, I had a cold start on me Saturday near the end of Thanksgiving weekend. Two family members had brought colds to the gathering. I made it to Tuesday and it looked like the cold was falling to the onslaught of continued good sleep. But Wednesday night, it converted to sinusitis and there followed Wed, Thurs, Fri, Sat, Sun of trying to sleep sitting up on the couch leaning against cushions to limit my breathing volume unable to mask up. It sort of works, pulse oximeter to monitor SPO2 falling below 90% and move or breath faster when it goes off, which it did almost continuously. Bleh! Monday I got 6 hours masked up, one or two hours at a time. Finally, I got 7 continuous hours Tuesday night and now I am off to give the kibash to this cold.
Goodnight!
Finally, my cold is ending, aren't colds miserable?

I'm with you! The last two nights my sinuses have been acting up bad for the first time since starting CPAP (10 weeks ago). I tried sleeping sitting up as well (but with my nasal mask on).
I do the sinus rinse twice per day and everything else I'm supposed to, but this cold or sinusitis came on anyway. Even drugged up on cold and allergy meds, I was dripping all day yesterday
It was hard to be good with CPAP, because I could actually breathe okay without my mask, but was too congested to breathe with it on. I'm wondering if my mask is to small, so I spent the wee hours ordering a slightly bigger mask with rush delivery from CPAP.com. Hoping mask #4 is the lucky one!
The good news is a couple of bad nights are nothing to complain about compared to pre-CPAP waking up thinking I was going to suffocate! A couple of sleepless nights are a small price to pay.
Take care
If you are struggling with congestion, it helped me to add Alkalol to my daily sinus rinse. This reduced my congestion and allows me to breathe freely with my CPAP mask. CPAPtalk post about Alkalol use here: viewtopic.php?p=665255#p665255
