The first time I traveled with my machine, I forgot the power cord. I use my second machine for napping out in my office, and I THOUGHT I was being so careful about packing everything. Fortunately, I was only about 2.5 hours from home. I discovered the missing power cord about 10 the first night so I drove home, slept there, then got up early the next morning to return to the beach WITH power cord. I was back in time for breakfast and only my cabin-mates were aware I had left. I knew it would be pointless to try and sleep without my machine--I literally can't fall asleep without it.
Since that time, I no longer nap in my office and I keep my machine and all necessary accessories packed in a bag--mask, hose, pillows, distilled water, etc. I bought a second mask off ebay so I can keep it packed with the travel machine. All I do when I travel is make sure there's enough distilled water in the bottle, double-check everything in the bag (did I mention how paranoid I am now?), and then put it in the car.
I think most of us do this once--I'm glad your trip was a short one and you were able to manage.
