aargh, left mask at home
aargh, left mask at home
I put the machine in the car and the little Resmed bag I have my mask in (usually tied to the bag strap) is missing. I searched the car twice I assume it became untied when I took it out of the house to pack the car and is still at home. I do not like not having my machine - it has become a comfort item to help me fall asleep. Lesson learned, forget the nifty little bag and just put the mask in the machine bag,. Damn I am so pi**ed off at myself. Gonna see if I can get a mask tomorrow somehwere here in Burlington VtTI really don't want to go 2 night without my little machine buddy running. I am so unhappy right now ;-(

Good point. I keep my mask in my cpap bag also. I never had a reason for doing this... now I do....

I put the mask in the machine carry-bag too, because I'm paranoid I'll leave it behind otherwise LOL
You can get our hosts to ship stuff overnight to most places, but that's an expensive fix. You might want to call your DME and see if they have a branch or an affiliated company in Burlington.

When I travel, I put my bipap and mask and medications in the cpap bag and make sure that bag goes with me. Anything else I might forget, can be purchased.

Re: aargh, left mask at home
I had a second mask I use for travel and was missing the headgear. I wound up taking my snuggle and wrapping it around my head while my overnight from cpap.com was working its way to the hotel.

Yep! All parts and all medications go into CPAP bag, which is the "first" loaded, and if in a motel/hotel, is the first thing put together and placed beside the exit door.
Re: aargh, left mask at home
well I was able to track down a mask but they wanted $200 - I do have a copy of my script and they said I coukd use insurance (I would have to begin the process to have them as my DME to get it covered - since they are a chain I thought better of it - I had visions of a nightmare to get rid of them once they had their hooks in me and obviously you can't have 2 DME providers at the same time - though I am not sure why not)
slept OK last night and did not feel tired during the day but I did have a sore throat this morning. One more night and I will be home and armed with new packing stratetgy for my travel machine

I forgot a part and had the worst night sleep ever. I feel for you. Is there someone that can overnight the mask to you?
I use a check list for packing my cpap just like pilots use for takeoff and landing. I know it seems obvious what to pack, but at 3:30 am it makes thing a little bit smoother. If you buy a new mask, keep one in your bag as a spare.

Suggestion: make a list of everything needed, print out a few copies, use big type so it's easy to read. I carry a spare mask & spare power cord I'm so paranoid

Re: aargh, left mask at home
Back home tonight - blissful sleep awaits me. the resmed bag with the mask was in my husbands car (my travel machine was with me at camp last weekend and must have become untied from the machine bag and I did not notice it when I transferred the machine bag to my car Wednesday before I went on my business roadtrip. Anyway, first thing I did when I got home was putting that mask into a zippered pocket in the travel machine bag so it does not get forgotten again.
Next Monday I will call BC/BS and ask about this multiple DME thing just in case I need a replacement part in my travels

Re: aargh, left mask at home
I'm using 2 DME's right now. I started with the first one who supplied me with my machine and first 2 masks but didn't stock replacement cushions for my FFM and wouldn't order them for me. I then verified with my local BC/BS that I could use any in-network DME at any time, so now I get my masks and other supplies from my friendly, local DME. I only use the first DME for service on my CPAP machine and for sending reports to my sleep doctor. All any DME needs is a copy of your prescription to be able to sell you a CPAP supply that you need.

Re: aargh, left mask at home
thanks Lyn, that's what I figured. I have copies of Rx and study . It might be worth my time to do the paperwork with some national DME just in case I do need a part on the road.

Re: aargh, left mask at home
Happened to me that I forgot everything when my dad broke his hip and I was a little spacey. My brother is a hose head also and had an extra mask, we slept in shifts for the machine. Brothers are good to have.
Another time I forgot the power converter and when i asked my host if he had something that would convert 120 to 12 he dug arround in the closet and came up with a complete machine! Now when I stay at his place I don't need to pack my buddy.

always a hosehead, almost a hoser.
