Seeking VPAP feedback

I was titrated a couple weeks back, using the Resperonicis Bipap. It was a very bad experience for me. I found on the inhale (Ipap) that the machine went into exhale (epap) mode before I finished the end of my Ipap.
THe machine rushed my Ipap. It felt like someone put their hand over my nose, while I was still inhaling.

"I know many people do really well with their Resperonics bipap". I am not knocking it. It is simply my own personal experience, with a bipap & it happened to be Resperonics. For all I know, the techs at the sleep lab made an error in programing it. I do not have the luxury of testing out a Vpap, let alone another Resperonics bipap.

From that experience, I have decided to go with the Resmed Vpap Auto.

Can anyone tell me, from their own experiences, how they found using the Resmed Vpap. I would really appreciate the feedback. I have no way of testing out the Vpap Auto before I purchase it.

I encountered the opposite. I couldn't use my Resmed VPAP Auto in straight bi-level mode because of the same type of situation you ran into w/the Respironics BPAP. The pressure transition was just too abrupt.

IF, and it is a big IF, you have an RRT who KNOWS the Resmed features and how to properly utilize them and is willing to work w/you the problem can be overcome. Rise Time is one of those options that can be adjusted to your needs to smooth out those pressure transitions.

OR - if you have to overcome the problem yourself the EASIEST and quickest way to do so is to just use the VPAP Auto in auto mode AND set the Pressure Support option to the exact difference between IPAP and EPAP, i.e. if IPAP is 13 and EPAP is 8, set Pressure Support at 5.

I seriously doubt that you will regret ordering the Resmed S9 VPAP Auto. I haven't personally used an S9, but I've been so pleased w/my Resmeds - started w/an S8 Elite in 06, purchased an S8 AutoSet Vantage OOP in 07, was switched to an S8 VPAP Auto in 08 due to COPD and was eventually able to obtain a PR S1 BPAP Auto so I would have a backup/travel bi-level.
I like the PR S1, I have no problem w/it in straight bi-level mode or in bi-level auto mode, I LOVE the swivel hose attachment on the integrated humidifier.

But I've been spoiled by the Resmed's ease of access to data via the LED screen, to the amount of data available via the LED screen, to the AutoScan and now ResScan software, to the visibility and ease of access to the H3i's water tank .... I'm just a Resmed fan. It has nothing to do w/quality of therapy and everything to do w/data quality and data access.
