Narrowed Posterior Pharynx?

I tried looking this up online, but to broad of field. Can anyone tell me what this actually is, or Please point me in the right direction.

Well the pharnyx is the area of the throat just behind the mouth where the epiglottis lives. As I understand it, people with a narrow space there usually have a jaw that is positioned more rearward then normal and so are more susceptible to OSA. But I was just scanning.

There's loads of info out there but mostly pretty technical. Here's a page that has some technical info on correction of that anomoly.

In your searches, leave out the word posterior. I used narrow pharynx syndrome and got lots of pertinent hits.

I wouldn't worry about it. Just one possible explanation for why you have sleep apnea. And I hope that link about surgery didn't freak you out. That patient was an extreme case.

Well, some good news.....Pain is causing me not to sleep long(lol). The doctor is helping to find a solution & ease the pain up. I am now able to use the machine between 3 & 5 hrs. So I think I am doing ok. Thank you for asking. Hope all is well for you!!

Yup, I know all about pain too. For me it's an old shoulder surgery on the right and arthritis in my left hip. Damn, why couldn't they both be on the same side!

You were looking for a FF mask awhile back. I happened to get a hold of a RedMed FF called the PerformaTrak. I suspect it's obsolete but some suppliers still have it in stock at reasonable prices...like $55. That was cpapwholesale.com. Out sponsor doesn't carry it. But it has large soft double silicone sealing surfaces similar to the Easylife nasal. This one looks a little small for me, but I washed it up and am going to give it a run anyway.

I'm doing good. Snow in the NM mountains already. I always get a little bummed in winter wishing I was someplace warm. A remnant from growing up in Minnesota.

I am still looking for a FFM that is small & comfortable. Found out my tongue is to small to block the air like alot of you are able to do. Things are finally becoming clear now so I take it one step at a time.
