Back to the DME for a Mask Refit - input on some masks

Post by retrodave15 » Wed Nov 30, 2011 11:56 am

I am going to the DME later today to get refitted for a mask. Currently I am using a Ouatro FX full face, but the mask is irritating my skin and my lower lip keeps fliping out as the mask rides up on my face.

What to people recommend out there. My DME reps Respironics ReMed and some F&P (limited selection) masks.

I was thinking about
Respirionics Full Life because of the chin support

A Comfort gel Full Face as the forehead rest might keep the mask from riding up
https://www.cpap.com/productpage/comfor ... dgear.html

Or if they have one
F&P Forma Full Face

Let me know what you think, hopefully I will be able to try all these on

Dave

What we think doesn't matter...it's what fits you comfotably. Many here love the Quatro FX, but you can't use it.
Try them till you like them.

Your question is like asking what are the best shoes. All faces are different, so all masks will fit different. You need a mask that is comfortable and doesn't leak. Sometimes the nasal-folks here will reach out and slap you if you recogmend a full fave mask and vise versa. When you go to your DME, try on the different masks, have the DME help you fit the mask and ask for a display model cpap machine (set at your pressure) hooked up to your mask. If it is uncomfortable or leaks at the DME office, it will be uncomfortable and leak at home. I went thru several masks and I'll tase anybody that tries to take it from me.

Mirage Quattro has a different feel and the cushions are attached better than the quattro fx. That would be one to try. Also try the Quattro FX with the large or small headgear and see how that works or bump it up a size.

Have you considered a nasal or a nasal pillow mask?

I had my mask refit after work yesterday and after trying on every full face mask they had, and some they forgot they had. I ended up with a Mirage Quattro. Last night was pretty good and i did not have the problem with my lip flipping under the mask.

@archangle - I started with a nasal pillow but I breath through my mouth at times, so it was a chin strap or a full face. The full face seemed simpler
