This has been a good week for me - lost 2 pounds!

I have continued my exercising and walking training - 3 miles last Saturday in the cold wind. Looks like this Saturday will be the same - supposed to go 4 miles - not sure about the weather here, but I'm determined to keep up my training. (I'm in the Dallas area, and we're to have cold rain/sleet this weekend) So, please wish me luck at dragging myself out of bed early tomorrow morning to walk 4 miles in the cold rain!! (If you're interested in what I'm training for/why - here's a link that explains it. https://www.active.com/donations/fundra ... ntxKSteven)

Hope everyone else is having a good week - I've been staying up too late to watch the Winter Olympics, so mornings have come early. But, still getting up and walking, so all in all a successful week for me.

Stay warm and dry,
Karen

I am sitting about 268 right now. I have been bad the last week or so. Not gaining it back, just not losing any more. Been eating out alot, as wifey and I are buying our first home and it's just easier to hit Wendy's after meeting with our agent than going home and cooking.

Total loss since Christmas now is about 33lbs.

Cybergoon - that's awesome! Don't get discouraged by this week - dropping 33 lbs. since Xmas is great!

I understand the eating out while moving stuff - it sure is tough to cook healthy when you get home late! The good news is, more fast food places are giving you options on your sides - you can get fruit or salad in most of them now in place of the fries. Of course, I really love McDonald's fries, so asking for fruit instead is sometimes not my first thought...

Congrats on the first house - it really is different when it's yours vs. an apartment or rental house. Kinda neat - and you get a mortgage interest deduction too

Keep up the great work!
Karen

Hi!
Congrats Kikisue, you are working hard on reaching your goals!!!! Also big congrats to Cybergoon (33 LBS SINCE CHRISTMAS, WOW!!!!) You're doing great, what an accomplishment!!!! Congrats on owning your first home, you will love it, but as a good friend warned me when I bought my home 6 yrs ago, "you will never have money again!!!" Ah, so true!!! And "How 'bout those Hawkeyes"!!!!!
I don't like to get on the scale, but worked out everyday except 2 so far this month and the same with last month. I'm getting stronger and can get into clothes I thought I'd never be able to wear again. I'm making progress!!!

Cybergoon...Congrats on the new house and the terrific weight loss!!!!

And Karen, getting up to go walking when the weather is lousy...you've got my admiration.

A good news/bad news week. Good news, 1 week of no smoking, bad news, eating a lot more than normal. I am still exercising hoping it will keep my mind off both cigarettes and food. Every time I want to eat or smoke I get on the machine! One day at a time.

Have a productive week!

Sorry to jump in mid-thread, but I have a weight loss-related question:

I'm at the end of a long rehab from back surgery, which had me confined to a bed, and resulted in my gaining a lot of weight and having significalnt muscle atrophy.

More recently, I've been healthy enough to exercise, and I've lost about 40 pounds in the last few months (though I probably have another 40-50 to lose). And since muscle weighs more than fat, and I've been building so much muscle with physical therapy, I look like I've lost 50+. Yay!

As far as apnea is concerned, at what point should I consider getting my pressure setting readjusted?

I read on some website that any shift of 10% in your body weight may result in a pressure adjustment, and I was wondering if anyone had any knowledge to share on the subject.

BTW, please let me know if my post fits in with the thread, or would be considered more of a hijack. I'm fairly new to the board, and since every message board has its own rules, I want to make sure I start off on the right foot.

Thanks, and continued good luck to all on your weight loss.

FYI, In addition to the exercise, I've cut out sugar, starch and white flour.

I am down 72 pounds since Oct 24th 2005. I had a RNY Gastric Bypass, so I guess I kinda cheated.

I have been on a plateau for a week at a time not losing much, so everytime I start to go one one, I up my protein and fluid levels and try to workout a little more. It usually will break a slump.

Weightloss is hard, even if you do it fast with surgery. It could be one of life's biggest challenges for people who can gain weight by blinking their eyes.

I hale everyone's efforts with weightloss, cause I know I was going the wrong direction on the scale for years. To the point where my mobility was less than need be.

Congratulation all on the weight loss. Bonnie, good luck with the no smoking. that right now is more important than losing weight. May 30th will be 4 years since I quit smoking.

Since Christmas I am down 14 pounds. No loss this but no gains either. Glad to be atleast keeping off what I lost. My wife and I and the kids rescued an 8 month old 50lb puppy from a local area foster home. We found him on Petfinder.com. I am now taking two long walks a day with him, one in the morning and one at night. total about 1.5 miles per day. When it is not sooo cold out, I will make them longer. Just happy I am getting some excercise now during these winter months- usually my gaining months. Nice to know I have actually lost 14 instead of gaining what I call the winter 15. I applaud everyone's efforts. I am sleeping a little better now with the weight loss and daily walks.
