Refferal Please for St. Louis County

Post by jazzer4 » Fri Nov 25, 2011 5:32 pm

Hi all.
I bought my son an oximeter and he had 47 events in 4 hrs.

He lives in Eureka, Mo. but works downtown sometimes.

Anyone from the St. Louis area that is happy with their Dr., sleep study and DME provider?
He has Carpenter ins.

Thanks
Susan

I used the Clayton Sleep Institute. They are located on Big Bend in Maplewood. I was pretty happy with some of the techs that I met, and OK with the others. I do think they got my pressure titrated properly, and had no trouble getting a second mask when the first one didn't fit. They are also my DME, but you don't have to use them if you don't want to.
St. Luke's Hospital has a sleep clinic, and the hospital has a good reputation in this area. I have no personal experience with them, though.
Good luck finding someone for your son.

Barnes Hospital has a sleep center as well.

I've been very impressed with American Sleep Medicine in Creve Coeur, Missouri. In my case I made it clear in my initial interview session with the Doctor at American Sleep Medicine that the reason I choose their firm was because I wanted a specific machine from a specific DME if a machine was needed in my situation. I was able to get script written for S9 AutoSet my preference. I called IV & Respiratory Care out of Belleville, IL (with office in Chesterfield, MO) and they are a great DME. Had an awful time trying to find a DME that would give me a Resmed S9 Autoset in St. Louis until I called them. It is amazing how hard it is to find a good DME in Missouri went back 2 years in the forum to find this suggestion and wanted people in this area to know it is still a great place.

I found that many sleep labs in St. Louis want you to stay overnight and leave with the machine of their choice the next morning, not giving you a chance to select the DME of your preference. You are right to do your homework ahead of time.

Shameless Plug: If you find that the requirement is for a straight CPAP machine and that your deductible will exceed $350, I have an Resmed S9 Elite that is fully data capable and has zero hours that is for sale for $350...

Thank you Mark.
It seems my married kids (never) have any time to tend to themselves with three kids, a job and a wife.
So mom is trying to whittle things down.
I used to live in Chesterfield so I'm familiar with the area.

This is good information Mark as I really don't want him to walk out with a brick.
