Ouch, Ouch, OUCH

Post by Merryj » Wed Nov 23, 2011 5:34 pm

I have a yucky coldsore on my upper lip. Rolled over when I was getting up this morning and my mask slipped down a bit right over the cold sore - man did that hurt like a bugger!

Yowee! Sorry you had to experience that!
Have you tried Abreva for cold sores? My friend swears by it. . . .
Feel better.

I have been plagued with cold sores since I was a child--nose and lips--several times a year.
I mentioned to my doc that I have a tingling or numbness right before they crop up;
and he gave me a RX for generic valacyclovir.
I take one right away and two more at 12-hour intervals (3 total)
This stuff is amazing--Nips them right in the bud!

We have a similar cream here in Australia. Its called Zovirax. You need to apply when you feel the tingle. You probably have the same product but perhaps another name.

Lysine pills worked better than any cream for me.

L-lysine 250 mgs/day works like a charm for me...none in the past 4 yrs and only then 'cause I let myself run out of the lysine for a few days and had been out in bright hot sunshine (one of my triggers).
