ResMed Machines for CSA

Post by JIMCHI » Sun Nov 20, 2011 6:04 pm

Aside from the VPAP Adapt SV, does ResMed make any other machine which treats complex sleep apnea? I need a machine which will work with their Swift LT mask (which the VPAP Adapt SV won't).

Hi

The only ASV's I can find are these two -

which you already know about

I suppose you could get new masks for a new Resmed ASV ?

Anyhow, good luck

cheers

JIMCHI,
The ASV machines aren't the only machines that will treat centrals...but if the centrals are linked to periodic breathing or Cheynes-Stokes breathing, then the ASV is the correct machibe (as I understand it)

The Resmed Vpap ST is a machine that has a timed back-up rate and can initiate breathing if it doesn't occur spontaneausly. May work with your mask.

The Respironics ASVs are compatible with any mask system.

To the best of my knowledge. the newer S9 version of the ASV machines from Resmed is compatible with any mask. The older S7 based ASV units used a separate pressure line to measure the pressure at the mask. The S9 variant uses the back pressure in the tubing to estimate that pressure. Thus, the S9 model should work with any of those masks, including the Swift masks. Use the "Pillow" setting for the Swift headgear.

You should be able to confirm this by calling Resmed directly (here in the US):
