Morning leaks with Padacheek

Post by scottjf8 » Sun Nov 20, 2011 1:33 pm

Lately I've waken up with my Quattro FX (with the Padacheek) leaking a lot. I'll move it around but it doesn't stop.

How do you wash yours? I've done soap and water but it still has oils on it, which might be causing it.

Should I throw it in the washer with my clothes?

I'd put it in a lingerie bag, so it won't tangle up with the velcro on other things.

I wash mine in the washer but don't dry it in the dryer; I hang it to dry on a rack.

Your leaks just could be mask movement and the lack of a forehead piece on the FX; I naver had that problem the the Mirage Quattro. Are you using an anti-leak strap? The strap really helped me to keep the mask snugly to my face in a way that the headgear alone didn't.

Well it was fine for a month or two, so I think it's just oils on it.

I'm gonna hand wash it again today and let it air dry

I've had the same exact problem. I'm wondering if it's not the liner, but the fact that the headgear is kind of known for stretching. My FX is a month old too and it just doesn't fit as well as is it did when it was new, liner or not.

Scott,
I haven't had any leaks yet but it took awhile to get the right degree of tightness/looseness on the straps. The pad-a-cheek original and the buckle cover have been wonderful and I'm a lot more at ease with the mask as a result of those. I've only washed all the headgear once - just soap and water and hang to dry.

I have a couple of padacheek liners, I swap them out once a week and wash it in a lingerie bag and hang to dry.
Started cpap in 2010.. still at it with great results.

I take a little laundry soap and wash it in the sink with warm water and hang to dry. Tends to need this every 4-7 days and that's with washing my face before going to bed. The comment about the headgear is right on too. I have to tighten the headgear a little every few days. The medium only lasted a month, now I have the small. Wash your face, wash the liner. It does make a difference. You still save time because I never wash the mask, it looks like new! I know I should, but I don't.

Scott... what size FX mask do you have? I had a Padacheek liner and I loved it, BUT the liner was just too big for my SMALL FX mask. I believe she makes them for a Med, but the Small just swims in it and that caused me more leaks than when I don't use the liner. Unfortunately, I had to stop using the liner.

I appreciate the comments on the products. I am getting a small Quattro FX mask and will design a mask liner to fit that one specifically. It should be available in a few weeks.

I need the feedback about our products in order to make the very best possible solutions. Thank you.

Thanks Karen!

Turned out giving a good hand wash worked fine. It's not leaking anymore!

I just need to do it more regularly.

Thanks Karen... you make great stuff. This will be a welcome improvement. PM me when the new small is available as I would like to try it.
