Update on DME Antics

Doctor took the bad behaving DME off their list of providers and sent hubby's order over to another DME. When the doctor's office told the DME what happened with the other one wanting to charge us an extra $250 out of pocket for the S9 Autoset, the new DME said that is a no-no and they do not operate that way. If the doctor wants an auto pap that is what they will dispense for the reimbursement allowed on our insurance. That bad old DME will not get any future business from this pulmonology practice. They have many offices in metro Atlanta and there are multiple physicians who admit to 5 different hospitals. Ouch, that should hurt the bad DME's pocket book and send a message.

Only if the doctor's office makes it clear to them why they can no longer expect any referrals from them.

That's a really good thing that your Dr did.

And also a good thing that your "new" DME said.

This is the very first time I think I've read about a DME who actually said they would dispense what the Dr prescribed. ( I'm assumking they did do what they said ? )

Care to share the names of the Evil DME and the Good DME ?

That has been done. The doctor is not happy with them right now. This company used to be a supplier for O2 for the COPD patients and they will lose all of this. There are many other DMEs in Atlanta area that will be glad to provide great customer service for them.

The evil and good DME companies are small local companies outside the Atlanta area. No large company anyone would be familiar with. They are mom and pop companies.

New DME ordered the S9 Autoset a couple of days ago and it will be here Friday. YAY!!!
Thanks to Janknitz and other well informed members, I was educated as to how to handle this situation. Couldn't have done it without you. Thanks a bunch!

My husband got his S9 Autoset, climate line and mask this morning. He is so happy and can't wait to try it out tonight. He has been using a second machine I have and he is happy to have one of his very own! Great attitude! Even better, the resp therapist showed him how to access the clinician's menu to change settings (I already know how to do this, but I thought it was awesome that she didn't guard that info like the Holy Grail.) She told him "most people find out how to do this on the internet anyway so I just go ahead and show them how."

So glad another bad DME was thwarted from playing somebody for a sucker, and maybe thanks to your doctor's actions that DME will stop doing it to others too (I can dream, can't I ?).
