Update-surgery and eye leaks
Update-surgery and eye leaks
My eye surgery went well. Eye doc said I could use xpap right away but I am still fighting leaks by my eyes and could not tolerate an eye mask for a few days. Prior to my surgery I thought I had problems with air leaking from my tear ducts. I decided to try an experiment to verify the leak was from my eye. I put on a pair of swimming goggles and my Quattro Mirage. I figured if the air was coming from my eyes, it would fill the goggles. If the air was from the mask, the goggles would protect my eyes. No air filled the goggles but I could still feel the leak with my fingers. So the good news is my eyes don’t leak but I still can’t fit either Quattro without leaks ARRGH!

Re: Update-surgery and eye leaks
I haven't been at this very long, but I would think a change of mask type might be a good idea. I started with a pillow mask, but had to change because my nostrils are different sized -- the XS fit one nostril and the S fit the other. I changed to a nasal mask, and I like it much better. But, I have learned that it takes time for the seal to become tight enough to stop all leaks. My guess is that the mask gets warm from my skin, and that improves the seal. I could be wrong, though. . . .
I hope you get some suggestions from the more experienced folks here.

I think you are correct. The seal gets better as the night goes on. In the morning no amount of moving will break the seal.ThirdOutOfFive wrote:I haven't been at this very long, but I would think a change of mask type might be a good idea. Re: Update-surgery and eye leaks
Try this with your Quattro. If you are having leakage at the top of the mask into the eyes, move the mask down about a quarter of an inch to a slightly wider area of your nose. Don't pull it down but remove it from your face and re apply it to the lower spot. It will be slightly lower on your chin, but that will be OK.
