Need Advice On Machine Choice.....

I'm sure this has been asked and answered several times but I didn't have much luck with searching. My prescription for an APAP just got sent to the DME this afternoon and I'm looking for opinions on choosing between the DeVilbiss IntelliPAP AutoAdjust andthe Resmed S9 Autoset. The smaller footprint and longer warranty of the DeVilbiss appeal to me but the easy access of the ResScan software over the $150 SmartLink package is also a plus.

Any opinions?

They would both get the job done quite effectively.

Have you looked at the data each machine gives? Like examples of the reports to see if you like one over the other.

After looking at the two software versions and paying closer attention to the user interface of the machine itself I think I'm going to go for the S9 Autoset. My biggest draw to the DeVilbiss was the that it was so much less expensive but it sounds like the DME is going to do the old "If insurance will pay up to $900 then every machine costs $900" thing. Given that then I'm going for the one that's really closer to $900.

You won't be sorry, the S9 Autoset is a great machine. If you get it, be sure to get the ClimateLine tubing with your H5i heated humidifier.

I have the S9 Autoset as my primary and the Intellipap Auto as backup now. I prefer the S9. It is a little quieter. The Intellipap has a little bit of a hum to it with the inspiration and expiration cycle. I like the fact that I can see more data on my S9 screen even before downloading to the computer. The screen light stays illuminated on the Intellipap also where the S9 light goes off after about 30 seconds. Occassionally the Intellipap will blink during the night when there is a message like clean filter. That tends to disturb my sleep. Also, filling the Intellipap humidifier tank is not as easy as with my S9. Not hard, just different. You have to turn it up on its side to fil, estimate how much water you need, and lay back down to the flat position to see how full and then insert into the cpap machine. The Intellipap has what you might call a gasket or a seal on the bottom of the water reservoir that needs replacing over time. S9 does not have this. I am sure I am forgetting some other comparisons, but all in all, I prefer the S9. I haven't had any other machines but these two. Hope that helps.

I have S9 autoset..and since insurance is paying. I would go for the S9 autoset. You will love the heated hose. I have NEVER had rainout.

The software for the S9 is easy to get and easy to use.

Anyone know if there is a down-loadable users guide besides the quick guide? I'd like to get a head start on knowing the machine.

S9 AutoSet, no question.

Be sure it's AutoSET, not Escape Auto. It says the model name next to the power button. You wouldn't be the first person to mistake one for the other or even have the DME lie about which one it it.

Buy the dishwasher safe water tank, even if you have to simply buy it out of pocket from cpap.com without insurance.

You can bet I'll be looking for it to say "AutoSet"!! I was also thinking about the dishwasher safe tank. Even with Insurance this is going to be a nickel and dime money pit getting set up. But even though I only have moderate OSA I could tell from the titration test that this is going to be a *very* good thing.

I forgot to mention the climate line with the S9 is key. Get it. I get some mild rain out, water condensation in the tubing and mask, with the Intellipap. I have never had rain out with the S9 climate line. Love it.
