Respironics BiPAP Harmony and data

Post by turbosnore » Thu Nov 03, 2011 7:06 am

Does anyone happen to have the Clinical manual for this?
A friend of mine got it, and wishes to see some data.
What's needed? Memory card and SW?
What IS it really? I did see it in the net, but didn't really even get what series it belongs to.
How close it is to BiPAP Synchrony? (Does Sunchrony's manual apply?)

Tried to look there, but didn't find the manual - or couldn't tell which one would do.
Also, they don't have any info there about what you need to get the data out.

So far I have found this.
http://bipapharmony.respironics.eu/
It uses a smart card (looks like a credit card) and would need the DT3500 Infineer card reader (nothing else will work)
along with software.
http://bipapharmony.respironics.eu/features.asp

Unsure if this older machine will work with the newer version of Encore Pro though. I need to check some more on that. Or once a DT 3500 card reader is obtained...simply try the new version and see.
It probably would work with Encore Viewer 1.0 or Pro 1.8.
I see these as listed as NOT working with Viewer (so probably not Pro either) but that is all I see.

Does Not Work With:

REMstar Choice
REMstar LX

The Synchrony manual might get close. Did you find it?

I found this quick setup guide. Can't find a full manual but this tells how to get to setup menu.
http://www.schoolofventilation.com/docs ... _guide.pdf

Link on Harmony page at Respironics for software smart card takes me to Encore Pro 2....so one would think it would work. Only one way to know.
Cheapest DT3500 I have found was $40 here
http://www.directhomemedical.com/101435 ... eader.html

Would also probably need to update the driver software for the DT3500 from Mako. I have that link somewhere or is easy to find.

So need the DT 3500 Infineer..
I can help with the software.

I suspect the data is compliance only.

When was this machine made?

This is what data is offered. More than hours of use compliance but less than what we see now in the reports.

The BiPAP Harmony is compatible with home follow up tools to monitor patients' efficiency ventilation and identify when any adjustments are necessary for effective treatment and prevention of acute episodes:

Encore® SmartCard stores data gathered over the previous 6 months and with Encore Pro softwarereports can be generated showing patient’s compliance data, long term trends and eight day detailed trends on pressure, patient tidal volume, respiratory rate, percentage of triggered breaths, leaks, peak flow, minute ventilation and alarms.

there was a ST or SV - old one (tank style) with other types of reports so this one does too

but the manual for this machine is 2003 - not sure when encore started reporting AHI etc. but the tank Pro 2 was the first legacy that did - the Pro just had compliance and the plus didn't even have cards

Thanks again.
I guess the data the machine collects is helpful for making adjustments to make the treatment work.
I'll check the smartcard, reader and software situation here in Finland (availability, price) and ask my friend
if he wants to go forward. I have an itch that he does.

His clinic is idiotic: They have a rule that for all APAP clients the pressure must be set to 4 - 20 (or on special
request 6 - 20), and ifn it's not good, they say that for the patient, this form of treatment doesn't fit.
So, you see why the possibility to do adjustments by himself.

The guy has not yet answered, but I calculated:

Encore SmartCard 10$ (USD)
10.00 USD = 7.26569 EUR
Mako DT3500 SmartCard Reader - USB 54$ (USD)
54.00 USD = 39.2079 EUR

yht:
64.00 USD = 46.4686 EUR

(Currency conversion: http://www.xe.com/ucc/)

Delivery via US Mail 47$ (USD)
47.00 USD = 34.1332 EUR

Makes 111 USD = 80.6185 EUR (n. 81 EUR)

Customs 18,63 EUR more (VAT) = about 100 EUR
100.00 EUR = 137.318 USD
At the moment, computers are toll-free.

Not too cheap, huh?

Then the SW on top of that, unless Sleepyhead works (I wonder).

The problem is also, not very many companies deliver outside US.

SleepyHead won't work with any machines requiring the Smartcards for data collecting and the special card readers.
It only works with SD cards.
