CPAP Use and Clicking Jaw

Post by gabs.herb » Tue Nov 01, 2011 3:41 pm

I am a relatively new (60 days) CPAP user and doing really well with it. I am using the Swift nasal pillows and sleep on my side. In the past week I have developed a cracking/popping in my right jaw. It is not painful - yet. I am wondering if anyone else has experienced this? Seems awfully coincidental to me. Any help/advice would be appreciated!!

I can't imagine your mask is causing your clicking jaw as it's minimal as far as contriction goes.
If you're making a conscious effort to keep your mouth shut tight, or using a chinstrap, then perhaps this might be making you hold your jaws in an unusual position from normal.
You might also be grinding your teeth, which would do the same thing.
Maybe a visit to the dentist would help?

Cheers,
xena
