Devilbiss intellipap malfunctioning?
Hello I have a devilbiss intellipap autoadjust and am using a resmed quattro face mask. My problem is as follows: up untill relatively recently, my machine has worked fine. About a week ago it seems to have developed a problem where I cant exhale through my mask when its hooked up to the machine, its set to my prescribed pressure that worked fine a few weeks ago but its like its not letting the air escape through the machine. The air is exiting the mask just fine when its not hooked up and I can still feel it exiting through the holes when its hooked in. when its hooked up with teh unit on Its like im suffocating in my own breath and the force inside the mask is too hard to exhale amost as if it wont escape back through the machine. The machine still reads the correct pressure though, very strange. I called devilbiss and they said it was probably my mask causing the problem, but I havent made any changes to my mask and it had worked fine before. I took apart my mask and reassembled it and still the same problem so im starting to think that theres something wrong with my unit, possibly some of the motors messing up or something? Anyways I have ordered a backup unit in the interim so I can function at work but im wondering if I should see about sending my unit back as its still under warranty. Any ideas?
Re: Devilbiss intellipap malfunctioning?
also I tried messing with the settings and tried turning smartflex on to no avail so idk , i really wish it would work again as it was a good machine untill it started doing this
Re: Devilbiss intellipap malfunctioning?
Do you have another type of mask to try? If you do, and you are experiencing the same issue, it would indicate a machine problem, but if the other mask works fine, then your Quattro has an issue. Have you disconnected the main hose and made sure nothing is in there---some bugs or critters have been know to find their way into hoses? Cleaned or replaced your filters?
I have no idea what else to suggest..... If you have a DME locally that you use for supplies and your mask, see if you can borrow another mask to try it. Even if you don't use a local DME, you might benefit from calling one and see if they have any suggestions, or if they would be willing to let you rent a sample mask for a night or two. They might even be willing to bench check your machine for you for a reasonable fee.
Just throwing out suggestions..... let us know if you get this resolved and what the problem turns out to be.

Yes, that blue eyed beauty is my cat! He is a seal point, bi-color Ragdoll. I adopted him in '08 from folks who could no longer care for him. He is a joy and makes me smile each and every day.

I would reset all the settings to default , take a note of your current settings first though.
(Id have to look up how to do this, let me know if you want me to)
Re: Devilbiss intellipap malfunctioning?
apparently its a problem with my mask, as I just tested it on my backup unit. the little rubber valve thing on the connector is stretched or something I guess cause it gets stuck on the air vent when exhaling so I guess I have to replace it
Re: Devilbiss intellipap malfunctioning?
its part number 61287 that messed up, the little rubber valve cover I guess it got stretched or something. ive had to replace it before cuz I lost the original I guess its a weakness in the mask. the little valve is supposed to open when u exhale but it was sealing shut like it was glued or something
