condensation?
condensation?
I am a one month old user. From at least the supplier of the equipment, I am doing well I have gone from 174 incidents from the sleep study, to basically none from the downloads of my CPAP. I have woken several times after 3-4 hours of sleep and been unable to return to sleep, resulting in removong the soft gels I am using and returning to my snooring ways. I can deal with that, but my main issue is moisture in my mask which ends up in my nose and face. I sleep with no heat and a ceiling fan on. I am told by the supplier, the cold creates condensation in the tubing which ends up in the pillows. I purchased the insulating device yesterday which did not help at all. Sleeping in a heated room is not an option for me or my wife. Anyone have an answer how to get past this problem?
Re: condensation?
Is the machine lower than your head? Just a thought...can you set it up to take advantageso gravity can help the moisture to fall back into the tank instead of your nose ?
I'm sure some better suggestions will come along. Good luck!

Thinking of quitting CPAP?
No problem, here's the first thing to do when you quit:
Advanced funeral planning. When you give up CPAP, you'll probably need it.

Re: condensation?
Which machine?
Which mask?
Standard suggestions..
Machine lower than mattress. Lower humidifier settings so it generates less humidity. Hose cozy which you say doesn't seem to help.
Using a mask with nasal pillows? It is common to experience condensation in the nasal pillows from our own breath which has moisture in it too. Warm breath goes into nasal pillow....pillows are exposed to cold room air...condensation forms.
I have it happen with the mask I use. Please see my profile with the mask I use. For my mask there is a little cozy that covers the barrel and helps with condensation.

Please go to the User control panel and enter your equipment so we can provide some more helpful suggestions. Try doubling up on your hose wrap (cozy), put your cpap lower than your bed and run the hose up over your head board to allow the water to flow back to the machine. Try turning down your humidifier setting to off and just run in the passover mode (no heat). Some cpap manufactures have cpaps that can use a heated hose that prevents rain out. you can buy a heated hose from

or you can make one from a reptile heater from pet smart. Just do a search on this forum for reptile heater and you will get many links on how to do it. I have made two of them and they work pretty good for eliminating rain-out
