I keep on removing my Breeze during sleep

Post by snamvar » Tue Jan 04, 2005 9:08 pm

Hi,
I am trying out the Breeze nasal interface with my CPAP. I have found out in the mornings that I have pulled the mask off without remembering. I once saw that one of the pillows had been pulled off the interface too What can I do to stop this from happening?
I have been using the Comfort Gel mask without this problem. I use a Remstar Plus with pressure of 8. Thanks.

duct tape your hands behind your back before you go to sleep.

Or duct tape the Breeze to your face.

Seriously, do you have a sleep partner that can help you to monitor how and when this is happening?

You must be a deep sleeper. If a so much as bump my Swift (pillows) and I get an air leak it wakes me up.

Do you use the halo straps? they may help.
Sincerely,

Hey, duct tape have so many uses, but not this one

Yes, I do use the straps. I just find that the straps can easily come off. The straps take hold from back of my head to the interface around my forehead.

I know this is going to sound silly, But are you married? I had the same problem at first. my wife came up with a simple solution. she would cuddle with me at night. One arm around her and the other tucked down my side in my shorts. took about a month of dead arm in the morning for my arms to learn to stay at my side at night

I remember dreaming that the sound of the machine and mask was bothering someone and they asked me to remove it. When I woke up in the morning, I had completely disassembled the mask and headgear in my sleep! (It was my Mirage Ultra FF!) No recollection of doing that at all!

My Swift nasal pillows were giving me fits one night and I yanked them off. My boyfriend heard the thing hit the floor, woke up and made me put it back on. He said I argued with him. Again, no recollection!

Breeze Problems

Post by BetterBreathinBob » Wed Jan 05, 2005 4:38 pm

The Breeze is probably leaking and causing arousals or mini-awakenings. Go back to using your nasal mask- you were probably felling more rested while wearing that.

Good Luck
Bob

Spoken like a true medical proffesional... Go back to that uncomfortable leaky mask that made you try the Breeze in the first place and just suck it up and don't complain because you don't know what's best for you anyway.

I got a good night of sleep last night with Breeze
What I chaged was moved the strap connection lower on the front of the interface for a better grip on my head.

Doesn't the Remstar Auto have an option to set an alarm in the case of mask removal ?

The users manual should indicate how to set it up to do this.

I have a Remstar Plus with C-flex. It does have the option of setting an alarm if the mask comes off. I will set it. Thanks for the info.
I find the Breeze much less intrusive than a nasal mask. I also sleep on my stomach with my head to the side. Breeze works very well with this position. I am playing around with the part that holds the pillows for a good fit with my nares.
It's goind well. Thanks for your inputs.
