Perhaps a little, but not nearly so ascerbic as your rude and trite response to my sincere invitation.

FWIW, if your original inquiry had been as polite as your response after I challenged you, there never would have been an issue.

More importantly though, and back to the subject at hand, now that I have answered your questions do you have useful or informative information to offer me with which I may improve my condition? Your posts state that you have been learning about apnea. Perhaps you would be willing to share some of that info in a congenial manner.

Regards,
Bill

The fun of anon posts ...

And now Bill is at a big disadvantage because he doesn't know if Guest is one person or two or three.

The most recent post appears to be from a seperate person and that person is as offended as Bill but still posting as anon.

The simple courtesy here (and anywhere) is for people to at least use a sig - that in no way identifies the real person but does provide some form of tag to who is posting and if the present poster is a different person.

It really is very difficult to feel warm & fuzzy to people with a 'hood over their head'.

But I suspect that this point is really lost on the last anon poster who has taken Bill to task for showing a little frustration. Bill is reacting to not knowing who he is dealing with. There should be lessons to learn here.

No access to PM makes it more difficult and anon posters take even that avenue for improved comms away.

DSM <= lets you know who is posting even if it doesn't give you my real name !

Hi ?,

You weren't offending me - the practice of anon posting is of concern to me if it creates disharmony.

I fail to comprehend why people posting as anon don't even show the simple courtesy of a sig (tag) just to avoid the communication complexity that comes from one person trying to respond on a topic with what could be 1 or more people.

It can be construed as bad mannered and insensitive. Even if the post that triggered this was from Santa Claus, it would not help because of the anonymity.

Human interaction is a multi-faceted thing and it is hard enough when all visual clues are present but here we have most of those removed & thus a sig or tag is doubly important. Id doesn't matter really that a post comes from a guest if that guest uses a sig/tag but guest posting does cut off the PM safetynet that we can use to clarify someones intent or meaning.

One downside of anon posting even if with a tag is if the poster wants to be mean (parody, sarcasm, direct criticism etc:) and another problem is if one poster uses multiple tags to hide behind so they can create mischief because unfortunaely it happens.

But all-in-all I don't object to anons or guests if their intent is open & honest there are many anon posts that are so simple in intent that no one could misconstrue the anon persons intent - but as we have seen here in this case (yet again) an anon poster can think they are being open and honest and clear but it doesn't get seen that way by the person to whom their post was directed. Then the poster wonders why the thread spirals into a void.

In summary

anon / guest posts laking an id tag, that are 'seemingly' blunt or 'interrogatory' may elicit an unintended (even unfortunate) response & that is the price that gets paid for posting that way. This is so basic a principle that it seems sad to me that there is even a need to discuss it.

Cheers

Thank you, DSM. It did indeed elicit an unfortunate response from Bill. I appreciate your candor and I see your point.

Well said, Guest!!! PLEASE don't be discouraged from continuing to post. You are welcome here.... registered or not!!!!!
As dsm suggested, signing your post is a great way to avoid confusion within a thread.
As far as the line about 'judging you based on the history of your participation here'--- I promise you that is NOT what this place is all about!!!!! Cpaptalk is a fantastic place to come for help. There are many veteran CPAP users to learn from here who have years of experience and are more than willing to answer your questions and won't give you a hard time for asking them. They are a very friendly bunch of people and your opinions---questions---comments-- are welcomed by all of us. (Well, usually all of us....) So stick around!!!
