I have no problem at all with Mcdover posting his used equpment on the forum. In fact, with us bemoaning the demise of cpapauction.com, I welcome it, as it should benefit members who need machines at reasonable prices.

I am sorry about Hawthorne's negative experience, and would also not be happy if I had to pay an extra $90 in brokerage fees--what kind of racket is this that UPS has going in Canada?? But, it appears this was a misunderstanding over "UPS" vs. "USPS" and that the item she purchased was exactly as described.

My two cents.

I'm glad for that, however it's not your account he's freeloading on, he's too cheap to house his own DME sales business, instead he has found it cheaper to let our host pay his bills and pull away their customers, (the dumber ones). This may be allowed here because of our provider CPAP...COM's good will, but that doesn't make it right, if your scales of justice don't tip, maybe they need a little WD-40. Jim

I've got a few used machines that I have no use for. I have money in them, so I would like to get a little of it back and provide a big savings to my fellow forum members at the same time.

For some reason, some want to vilify me for this. Not sure why.
You don't buy used equipment, but you have money in them, I supposed this to mean you didn't steal them outright. Good for you. Jim

We don't vilift you, we just call a spade a spade. Ebay fine, other methods of free selling fine just not leaching from others.

If private sales of used cpap equipment are determined to be against the rules of this forum, I'm ok with that. I am aware that cpap.com hosts us, and I believe that they only sell new equipment, so there may not be a huge conflict of interest, since cpapauction.com is out of the used cpap business. In that sense I don't see how selling a used machine to someone who cannot afford a new one, or who is looking for a spare, is hurting our hosts.

I see no reason for name-calling--we're all too old for that. Mcdover is a contributing member of this forum, and as members sometimes do, he has made some used equipment available to other forum members, at good prices. I don't mind if he is connected with a DME; that just means he is more likely to come across something that I can use. And, the fact that he is a member of this forum makes him a more reliable seller than some random person on Ebay or Craigslist.

BTW, I scanned mcdover's previous posts when I saw the thread today, as anyone should. But I think some are over-reacting.
I did just read mcdover's last rude response to one of our valued forum members on that thread and had a knee-jerk reaction, not reading mcdover's full background here. It seems that everyone is making some valid points on this subject but in retrospect, if it helps some of us acquire equipment that we otherwise could not afford and improves our therapy, and as long as it's not against forum rules, I guess I don't see the harm. The auction is gone and craig's is iffy and OSA is an expensive condition.

Just to add my 2 cents and thank mcdover.
I got a really great deal on a backup machine and our host didn't lose a dime because I would never have paid full price for one. Thanks mcdover.
Now I'm just hoping for the opportunity to slap it on my Dad's face, who refuses to have a sleep study. But at least I have the equipment because he isn't getting mine!
