With my newfound energy I have volunteered for (or allowed myself to be appointed to): board of directors for SunRiders Miata Club, classing director for NASA-X FL Tampa (local autocross club), running the kitchen 3 weekends a year for model railroad club when they have their shows and sales.
Later this month I'm going to start building (remodelling the space, actually) my new woodworking shop.
And I'm not only chasing around that new puppy (yep, he's a lovable, cuddly ball of fluff and love, as playful as the day is long) but our 2 other dogs as well (some of you might remember the avatar I had of a white poodle/bichon wearing a Tilley hat).
Tomorrow I have to get up at 6am in order to get the autocross trailer down to the site. The club has a competition tomorrow and I'll also be competing and doing my best. It was only 6 months ago that I withdrew from competition because I knew that my reflexes just weren't up to performance driving. This was just before I started treatment. These days I'm am competing every month!
Although I can't say I'm driving any better than I did a year ago.
Long time, no post -- 6 month report
Been nearly a year
With nearly 100% compliance (did not have power in Turkey one night), I can report that my APAP machine and I are the best of friends (it is a 420e). My wife likes it too, because now she gets a good sleep without my snoring.
The only problem is that I may have messed up the power connector by putting a wrong-sized connector into it. This will require repair.
Oh, and I am still wearing a hairband under my chin to keep my damn fool mouth shut at night. Maybe I should wear it during the day.

I think it makes me look like a dashing scuba diver, don't you?

Bill, I was gone for about 6 months, so don't feel bad. Unlike you,my energy has seemed to level off and some days, when I have a lot of leaks at night or trouble going to sleep with too active a mind on other things, I kind of drag through the day, but not nearly as bad as I did before APAP.
To those who still have no energy after about 5-6 months, I would say to insist on seeing or speaking to your Dr. about being re-titrated or for a re-evaluation of your initial data. If you are getting satisfactory treatment, you should feel better in that amount of time. If you are sleeping most of the night, you should be going through the 3-4 stages of sleep and getting restorative sleep that will give you that energy and help you to start losing weight, too, not just from the increased activity, but from lowering your cortisol and returning your whole immune system to normal, lowering your cholesterol, blood pressure, and in many cases the need for insulin for diabetes.
Did your first sleep study, if you slept, show no Stage 3/4 or Deep sleep? What abou REM sleep? You need to find out if you are still not getting that Stage 3/4 sleep, even if they have put you on a medication for it like Gabitril or Neurontin.
If you are getting Deep Sleep, something else could be interrupting your sleep pattern, not enough pressure, too much pressure, leaks, pain, Restless Leg Syndrome. All these need to be dealt with as well.
