Re: What is your personal ideal AHI?
Since I started therapy 3 weeks ago, I have consistently had AHI less than 1. Somedays I get 0. I haven't stopped the awakenings though. So for me, its still daytime drowsiness and fatigue. When I can finally sleep through the night (or at least mostly through the night), maybe I'll feel back to "normal" again. I used to be a morning person! One of those people you want to smack.

Since Dx a year ago my AHI has been below 1.0, so keeping it like that is my ideal.

Re: What is your personal ideal AHI?
I have to watch that I don't sleep to long. If so the next night I will be less sleepy and then it will be a higher than normal AhI night and centrals will leave me with a headache that morning. My goal is to sleep 7 hours a night. This way I sleep sounder which results in lower AHI'S , less centrals and maybe no headache and life is good.

Re: What is your personal ideal AHI?
There is no ideal AHI for anyone because an AHI has no relation to the levels of Sleep Disturbances. It is a money making source for mediocre doctors and sleep clinics. On this board it became a source for medically uneducated posters to mislead others, especially newcomers about setting pressures up and down. Read the report linked in my signature line.

Re: What is your personal ideal AHI?
Are you desaturating with those centrals? I was, had headaches with centrals and low spo2. ASV fixed centrals and fixed low spo2, I stopped awakening at night (down to 1 on average) and sleep good now. AHI runs at zero.Bobby269 wrote:I have to watch that I don't sleep to long. Just a thought.

Re: What is your personal ideal AHI?
The Medical World determines if you have sleep apnea by the amount of sleep apnea's you have during the sleep examination. Even in the article that you suggested to read Dr Rapoport further down in the article doesn't agree completely with Dr Sullivan. What else do we have to judge our treatment as non medical experts than checking our AHI's.
What other way do we as members of this forum have, to help newbee's progress with their therapy. Everyone here strongly suggests to make sure that their machine is data capable.Data capable as I understand it means to know what your AHI and other readings are. I can understand that a good AHI for me might not be great for someone else.
There are many many intelligent people who use this site and use their experience gained, the not so easy way as a hose head, to help us.When they
say AHI means nothing then maybe it will mean something to me.
Please, please don't tell the man who is spending his time building a program for us called Sleepyhead that AHI means nothing. It's the first thing I look at to determine how I did that week.

Re: What is your personal ideal AHI?
We gotta start somewhere. Just ignore avi123. He has found something that justifies in his mind that it is okay to ignore his AHI (which he can't get below 5). He chooses to take a quite literal approach and believe one specific comment or thought as the gospel to cover all situations. Just as it is his right to go with that approach, it is our right to go with the other approach.Bobby269 wrote:What other way do we as members of this forum have, to help newbee's progress with their therapy.
AHI is not the total end all to guarantee feeling good (too many other possible factors) but it is a starting point. We gotta start somewhere.

Mine is consistantly below 1 and I sleep 8 to 9 hours a night.

My AHI over the last few weeks is around 0.0
What I want now is to sleep free and clear of this face-hugger . . . to not have an AHI at all.
